Blog：Brown to 'ban old bonus system'

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has told the BBC that he will "ban the old bonus system" and force banks to act in a more responsible manner.
He said that banks had not understood the damage they had done to the economy and that he would be introducing tough new measures to bring them into line.
"We are going to clean up the system once and for all," he said.
The measures will "represent the toughest action of any country in the world," Mr Brown added.
More powers
"We are not going to stand by and return to the bad old days," he said on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show.
To this end, the prime minister said the government would be bringing a new Business and Financial Services Act to parliament in the "next few weeks".
This legislation was first outlined by the Chancellor Alistair Darling in July.
Under the terms of the act, the UK financial watchdog - the Financial Services Authority (FSA) - would be given the right to intervene to stop banks taking too many risks.
The act would "ban the old bonus systems and make it impossible for firms to go back to using them," Mr Brown said.
Companies that did not comply with the new measures would have penalties imposed on them, he added.
Speculators and short term deals would no longer be rewarded so highly, he said.
The prime minister argued that the measures were necessary because there was already evidence that banks wanted to return to paying big bonuses that encouraged the excessive short-term risk taking that contributed to the financial crisis.
Excessive bonuses have caused public outrage in the US and in Europe, particularly at banks that have received state aid during the financial crisis.
But despite the backlash against what many see as excessive pay, a number of top banks have already been setting aside huge sums of money to pay in bonuses.

Blog: How to Check if Ugg Boots Are Fake

UGG Boots is really one of most great and famous boots brands all over the world nowadays. So many people wear UGG Boots especially ladies in winter for UGGS’ warm and fashion style.
Do some research on the retailer before you buy the Ugg boots they are selling. Fake Ugg boots are sold in a variety of locations. You will often see them sold on eBay, Amazon and in departments stores
Look at the price of the boots. As you know Ugg boots aren't cheap. If you see some for a really cheap price, be careful as these are more likely to be fake.
Take a close look at the tags on the boots. Real Ugg boots are made by an American company called Deckers that manufactures them in China.
Take a really close look at the fur that lines the boots. Authentic Uggs are made with real sheepskin, which has a distinct texture and colour. Real sheep skin fur is not white or nearly white.
Look at the care booklet provided with the boots.Look at the stitching on the boots. Authentic boots will have high quality, even stitching.
Take a whiff. New Ugg boots (ones that have never been worn) should not have any chemical smells, paticularlly a smell of paint.
Look at the size and shape of the boots. Fake boots are taller and don't run a size bigger like real boots. Real Uggs have a rounder finish on their front.

Blog：Election call

In Bangkok, thousands of troops and police were ordered onto the streets ahead of the protest by Mr Thaksin's red-shirted supporters.
Mr Thaksin himself is in overseas exile, and has been convicted in absentia of corruption.
In a speech to his supporters via videolink, he called for national reconciliation.
"Our country has deteriorated and risks being a failed state. I have already forgiven everybody, let's start anew and decide on new elections," he was quoted as saying by AFP news agency.
Mr Thaksin won elections in 2001 and 2005, swept to office by a wave of support from rural voters whose concerns he worked to address. After he was ousted, his allies won the first post-coup elections in 2007.
But protests - including a blockade of Bangkok's two international airports - by those who opposed him, the yellow-shirted People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), forced that government from office, allowing the party they backed to form a coalition.

Blog: Why We Choose UGG Boots

The UGG Australia story began in 1978 when a surfer by the name of Brian Smith needed a way to keep his feet warm between waves and the Ugg Classic was born. Crafted from Merino grade A sheepskin, the classic surf boot is lightweight and perfect for walkingand. The idea caught on and today UGG? boots have become a phenomenon.
UGG Boots is really one of most great and famous boots brands all over the world nowadays. So many people wear UGG Boots especially ladies in winter for UGGS’ warm and fashion style. However, not everyone likes UGG Boots at first. They though UGGS were not fashion enough to dress, ugg boots, that’s why they choose other brands boots instead of UGG Boots. Ok, seems that’s not what I want to talk today. I just curious why people choose UGG Boots.
Somebody told me that UGG Boots are not only warm and fashion. They were made of sheepskin that can make our feet comfortable when we wore them.

Bill becomes Category 3 hurricane

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Hurricane Bill churned in the Atlantic Ocean toward the west-northwest as a major Category 3 hurricane Tuesday evening.
Around 8:30 p.m., reports from a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration plane indicated Bill had strengthened, with maximum sustained winds near 125 mph. The NationalHurricaneCenter said further strengthening is possible.
When a hurricane's sustained winds reach 111 mph, it reaches Category 3 status. When sustained winds reach 131 mph, it becomes a Category 4 storm.
The center said Bill is a large storm, with hurricane force winds extending outward up to 45 miles (75 kilometers). Tropical force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 kilometers).
The hurricane center expects Bill to turn to the northwest Wednesday.
"On this track, the core of Bill will be passing well to the northeast of the northern Leeward Islands late Wednesday and early Thursday," forecasters said. The northern Leeward Islands are to the east of Puerto Rico.
Weather models showed the storm also missing Bermuda as it heads nearer to the upper U.S. East Coast, CNN meteorologists said Tuesday.

How to Care for Hiking Boots

Australian rose Boots upper design, top hot in this winter! The freshest product from ugg, allows you to catch more enviable attention!
A properly broken in pair of well fitting pair hiking boots can make any expedition more enjoyable. However, even the best Boots don't last forever, although properly caring for your boots helps.
Clean boots regularly using a rag or soft-bristled brush to get caked mud or dirt off. Wipe the inside of the Boots to remove salt from perspiration.
Waterproof boots before and after a trip, paying particular attention to the rand and the tounge. Apply at least three coats of water repellent before they are used for the first time and two coats each time after.
Use leather conditioner regularly to stop the leather from drying. Some waterproofers, such as SnoSeal, have conditioners in them but don't assume that all do.

Blog：Rae & Dorrans given Scots call-up

Scotland have called up CardiffCity midfielder Gavin Rae and West Brom's Graham Dorrans for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.
The pair will provide cover following James McFadden's suspension and Callum Davidson's withdrawal through injury.
Midfielder Scott Brown's chances of facing the Dutch have improved as tests have shown his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.
Defender Gary Caldwell is available after returning from suspension.
Rae won the last of his 14 caps for Scotland against Iceland in April.
And Dorrans, who can play in midfield and attack, was part of the Scotland under-19 squad that reached the final of the European Championships in 2006.
